FAQ

Everything you need to know about VAURA. Still have questions? Drop us a line.

I’ve never done reformer pilates before, is that ok?
Absolutely. Our classes are newbie-friendly and designed to allow everyone to work out at their own pace. Our trainers are here to help and will always give a beginner option along with a more advanced option to ensure everyone is challenged.

I’m new, is there anything I need to do before a class?

We can’t wait to welcome you to one of our VAURA studios. Here’s what you should know before your first session:

  1. Watch our Introduction Video: We highly recommend all new clients view our comprehensive introduction video before attending your first Reformer Pilates class. You can access this video here.
  2. Studio Arrival: Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your first session. When you arrive at our studio for the first time, please inform us that it’s your inaugural visit. Our team will gladly give you a warm welcome, show you around, and address any queries or concerns you may have. We are here to ensure you feel supported and at ease, guiding you every step of the way on your fitness journey!

What if I can’t do everything in class? I haven’t worked out in ages.
No problem! Trainers offer options for a lot of what we do in class, so you can dial the workout down or up as needed.

Is there a beginner class?
The best classes for beginners are our TOTAL and STRETCH classes. Once you feel comfortable in those classes, try a CIRCUIT and, as you get more experienced, level up to a FUSION class.

Which class should I do?
Each of our classes has a different focus, from stretch to strength to cardio, with all combining some elements of each. Try them all to find your fave, but ideally incorporate a couple of different class types into your week. Plus, our trainers all create their own unique flows each sesh, meaning every VAURA workout you do will be different. Since no two classes are the same, we keep your body guessing, making it nearly impossible to hit a results plateau, and even less likely for you to get bored.

How old do you have to be to take a class?
You need to be 16 or over to take a class.

Can I do a class if I’m pregnant or returning to exercise post-partum?
Pregnant clients MUST let our front desk staff and trainer know about their pregnancy, including the due date, before attending any classes. You can participate in classes up to 12 weeks into your pregnancy. New clients are not accepted after this point. If you are a regular attendee (coming to classes regularly for more than 6 months) and wish to continue beyond this point, we do not recommend attending classes without chatting with our staff and organising a private session with one of our trainers. As an alternative, pre and post-partum content is available on Stream. Returning or new post-partum clients must provide a medical certificate showing clearance from their medical provider. We do not recommend attending classes before 6 weeks post-partum.

Do you offer corporate events or private classes?
Absolutely. We offer private classes and class exclusives. To find out more, get in touch with your VAURA Studio via email or in person and we can assist you further. Or alternatively, drop us a line via the Contact Us page.

Do you have lockers?
Absolutely! We offer secure lockers located at all of our VAURA studios. These lockers are designed for safely stowing your personal belongings, ensuring a clutter-free and safe environment for our trainers as they move about the room. Kindly utilise these lockers for your items, and only bring essentials like your socks, water bottle, and sweat towel into the studio with you.

Do I need to bring my own Pilates socks?
Pilates socks are compulsory for all VAURA classes. These can be purchased at our front desk, but if you already have a pair, bring them along. Just make sure they have a grippy sole so you don’t slip on the reformer.

Do you have water or should I bring my own?
We have filtered water available at the studio, so feel free to bring your own bottle to fill up. Alternatively, you can purchase bottled water at the studio.

Do you have change rooms and showers?
VAURA studios have change rooms, shower facilities* and a hair bar (with hair dryers and straighteners).

*excluding Brookvale.

What do you supply?
Our studios are equipped with sweat towels, toiletries, hair tools and filtered water.

How do I book a class?
You can book classes through our app. Drop-ins are subject to availability. We strongly recommend booking in advance so you don’t miss out. Payments can be made either through the app, website or in studio (the app is easiest).

What do I wear?
Something comfy that won’t restrict your range of motion. A T-shirt or singlet, with shorts or leggings. You’ll also need to bring some pilates socks (compulsory) which you can buy at reception (or bring your own). We have sweat towels on hand and a water station to fill up your drink bottle before the the class.

When should I arrive?
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the class so that we can start on time!

If it’s your first class, please arrive 20 minutes early, so that you have a chance to get familiar with all things VAURA. A trainer will be around to welcome and guide you through a few things in the lead-up to class.

What do I do when I get there?
If it’s your first class, say hello to whoever is at the front desk and mention that you’re new. They’ll take you through the studio essentials and ensure you feel comfortable prior to the class.

Place any personal belongings inside the lockers prior to the class. We want to ensure that the reformer aisles are kept clear of personal belongings and props so that the trainer can move freely throughout the studio.

Then, grab a sweat towel, fill up your water bottle and relax on your reformer while you wait for the class to begin.

What if I’m running late?
Unfortunately, we can’t let you into the class if you’re more than 5 minutes late. Our team have been instructed to turn you away if you are more than 5 minutes late for safety reasons and to avoid class disruption. Please also note that if there is a waitlist client waiting and you are more than 5 minutes late, they will be given your spot.

Something came up. Can I cancel?
If you need to cancel class, please do so at least 8 hours before your class to give someone else the chance to take your spot. If you cancel after that time, you will lose your class credit and may also incur a late cancellation fee. If you fail to show up for class, you will lose your class credit and incur a $20 no-show fee.

How long until I feel like a pro?
If you feel a bit lost during your first class, you’re not alone. Our members tell us that it’s often not until their fourth class that they have their eureka moment and it all starts to click. So hang in there. You got this.

How can I show I’m part of the VAURA community?
Share your love for VAURA on Instagram! Snap a selfie in the studio or a group photo after class and tag us @vaurapilates. We’re incredibly proud of you!

What are the benefits of reformer?
Reformer Pilates offers numerous benefits, including improved core strength, flexibility, and overall body awareness. VAURA classes are designed to optimise your health by improving strength and muscle tone, core stability, balance, posture, flexibility, stress management, cardiovascular fitness, and for many, pain relief.

Will classes make me too muscular?
Absolutely not. Our workouts are designed to build lean muscle mass and tone your entire body. The combination of strength training with cardio and core will allow you to burn calories and create lean length without excess bulking. But, if you’re looking for some serious muscle building, try a FUSION class which uses heavier weights.

How is reformer different from mat Pilates?
If you’ve tried mat Pilates, you’ll find the reformer offers a much more versatile, high-performance workout thanks to the added resistance from the springs and the incredible range of exercises that can be performed. The reformer also helps keep your body in the correct position and offers support where it’s most needed.
